Versus RTLS Automation Live at VA e-Health Conference

(Traverse City, Michigan, August 3, 2010) – Versus Technology, Inc. (“Versus,” PINKSHEETS: VSTI.PK), the foremost provider of real-time locating systems (RTLS) to hospitals and clinics, will attend the Veterans Affairs e-Health Conference & Exposition 2010 (VeHU Conference) in Las Vegas, NV, August 10-12, 2010. Attendees are invited to visit Booth #107, where Versus will provide a demonstration of the Versus Advantages solution and how it is facilitating patient flow at various VA outpatient clinics. Versus will also discuss the advantages of the Versus solution, which relies on Infrared (IR) and Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) technologies to achieve clinical-grade location information—a necessity for clinical workflow automation.

Ahead of the August 2010 VeHU conference, Versus is reconfirming its commitment to provide education and resources to the Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA) Program Office, as needed and requested, to support the Program Office’s Real Time Location Systems initiative. The goal of this initiative, similar to other government-sponsored RFID initiatives, is to use RTLS to track patients, staff and other resources (i.e. equipment) in real-time and to automate clinical workflows for greater efficiency.

Several VA medical centers including Chalmers P. Wylie Veterans Ambulatory Care Center (Columbus, Ohio) and the St. Louis VAMC, John Cochran Division (Marion, Illinois and Poplar Bluff, Missouri), have already deployed the Versus RTLS. Using Versus Advantages, these centers automate patient flow and visit progression. They know where patients are, not only physically, but also in their care progression. The Versus Advantages solution provides situational awareness to help manage patient volumes and keep staffing levels in line with the patient census—all while monitoring the status of multiple patients and maintaining quality care. Versus Advantages has also been deployed to assist with equipment tracking and fleet management, key to controlling expenses and errors related tracking vital and valuable medical equipment.

Also, documentation required by the VHA is rather extensive. Versus Advantages RTLS revolutionizes this process by documenting care automatically, at the most basic level: provider-to-patient interactions. Patient care can then be evaluated on an individual basis, on a daily or weekly basis or based on patient type. Information like this can help facilities with patient scheduling, patient safety, patient flow, efficiency reporting and process improvement.

Versus continues to work with the St. Louis VAMC, Columbus VAMC and other VA facilities to enhance patient flow and establish more data collection points for efficiency, reporting and application of lean management principles.
