Versus Technology, Inc.
Announces Sale of Real-time Location Information System to the Chalmers P.
Wylie Veterans Clinic
(Traverse City, Michigan, June 2, 2009) – Versus Technology,
Inc. (Versus) today announces sale of Enterprise VISion™: Clinic and OR
Solutions to Chalmers P. Wylie Veterans Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus,
Ohio (Columbus VA). The wireless, rules-based real-time location information
system (RTLiS) will be installed to enhance patient flow and increase
efficiency within their surgery center and clinics.
The Columbus VA sought a patient tracking system because the
patient census has increased dramatically over the last few years and patient
volume is expected to continue to rise. With space and budget constraints, the
clinics opted for an automated patient flow management system to help increase
efficiencies while maintaining current staffing levels. Currently, Enterprise
VISion™ is installed on three floors, which will allow the Columbus VA to
simultaneously monitor patient flow for 200 to 300 patients and their
interactions with 100+ staff in over 150 separate room areas.
The Versus system, using safe infrared (IR) and radio frequency
identification (RFID) badges, tracks the patient’s visit progression and
notifies caregivers of the patient’s current stage of care based on locations
and interactions with key staff. The Versus RTLiS has been deployed at hundreds
of acute care hospitals and outpatient clinics to provide hands-free and
automatic data collection, including documentation of important milestone
markers such as wait times, overall length of stay and bed turnover times.
The Versus system also automatically communicates the patient’s
visit progression, assisting the clinical staff by alerting them as to which
patient is ready to be seen next and when patient wait times exceed
pre-established thresholds which will help eliminate potential bottlenecks.
Paul Timmerman, Versus’ VP of Sales and Marketing notes, “Versus has worked
with several VAs and military hospitals and we understand their unique patient
scheduling issues as well as their system integration protocols. We look
forward to working with the Columbus VA and assisting them in providing timely
care to our veterans.”
Utilizing the Versus hardware and infrastructure, similar
functionality is already in place with the VA Columbus’ nurse call system
supplied by SimplexGrinnell, a Tyco International company, which documents the
nurses’ interactions with patients, automatically registering their presence
and updating the call lights for risk management and regulatory compliance. The
Versus IR-RFID equipment and patient tracking system is exclusively endorsed by
the American Hospital Association and is one of the key components of their
Patient Flow Platform.
