Press Release
Versus Technology, Inc.
Announces Sale of Real-time Location System to the St. Louis VA Medical
Center
(Traverse City, Michigan, July 8, 2009) – The St. Louis VAMC,
John Cochran Division has selected Enterprise VISion™, a real-time location
information system (RTLS) from Versus Technology, Inc. (Versus) to improve
efficiency and safety while helping to manage their growing patient
populations. Specifically, the St. Louis VAMC, a two-division, tertiary care
facility with over 200 hospital beds, will deploy VISion: Clinic™ in their
outpatient eye clinic and VISion: Perioperative Suite™ in their operating room for
automated patient tracking.
The Versus RTLS, used in hundreds of healthcare facilities for
process improvement, will display the real-time location of patients and staff,
automate and display staff-to-patient assignments, and reduce manual data entry
through custom rules designed to “trigger” events, alerts and automatic data
collection. Versus will provide real-time data on key performance indicators
(KPI) such as patient wait time to assist with quality improvement initiatives.
Versus will also provide the St. Louis VAMC with a custom
reporting mechanism that will allow the facility to collect historical data on
patient visits, patient and staff interactions, and patient volume relative to
other parameters such as time of day or staffing levels. These reporting
features will make it possible for the St. Louis VAMC to evaluate, modify and
improve processes based on actual and automatically collected data, rather than
perceptions, best guesses and error-prone data entry.
Versus’ asset tracking, bed management and patient flow
solutions are positively transforming healthcare by making patients safer,
staff more efficient, and communication more dynamic—all in a cost-effective
manner. “The VAs throughout the US are getting hit with budget cuts—even as they’re
seeing the number of patients increase,” says Paul Timmerman, VP of Sales and
Marketing at Versus. “They’re having to ask staff to do more with less. Versus
makes that task a little easier and less stressful. Ultimately, the outcome is
better patient care.”
The patented Versus IR and Active RFID patient and asset
tracking system is exclusively endorsed by the American Hospital Association
and is a key component of their Patient Flow Platform, which includes a select
group of vendors that provide proven solutions to enhance patient flow and
improve patient safety.
