EMMC Cancer Care Wins Innovator Award for Use of RTLS Technology

Congratulations to our client, EMMC Cancer Care, for winning a prestigious ACCC Innovator Award!

The cancer program of Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) implemented real-time locating system (RTLS) technology in 2009, pioneering its use for patient flow in the oncology setting.

The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) is recognizing EMMC’s use of RTLS for improving the patient experience by decreasing wait times, expediting patient visits, and streamlining the chemotherapy and pharmacy processes. Additional benefits cited include the ability to monitor room and chair availability, record benchmarking data to enhance Lean processes, and improve staff efficiency.

The ACCC Innovator Awards, an annual tradition for the organization since 2011, recognize forward-thinking cancer programs who have created replicable programs to improve the quality of care.
