It’s
not just location data, it’s what you do with it.
The Versus Information System®
(VIS™) combines patented radio frequency identification
(RFID) and infrared (IR) technology to provide the real-time
location of people and assets.
Radio frequency is the type
of energy that television and radio stations emit into the
air. RF signals can provide general location information,
but more importantly, RF signals communicate. However, because
RF signals penetrate doors and walls, they provide only general
location data. Therefore, Versus uses the RF signal to identify
a zonal area, to announce the call/alert message when a button
is pressed on the badge, and as a general beacon to tell VIS
that a badge is active.
The infrared portion of
VIS provides the level of granularity that makes reporting
and automation viable. The IR signal is bound by walls and
provides definitive location information that can be focused
to within 12 inches assuming an 8 ft ceiling. This solution
provides the accuracy necessary to precisely locate people
and assets, even down to bed-level.
For a real-time locating
system to be truly useful and beneficial, the system must
provide precise, reliable location data. One should not make
workflow decisions based on faulty, imprecise data and one
cannot depend on inaccurate data to automate nurse call, billing
functions, visit progression, milestone markers and vital
actions.
Versus provides the
only single-source real-time locating solution that offers
the precision necessary to take full advantage of automation
and reporting features. Our comprehensive software suite facilitates
alert messaging and event automation, real-time and historic
reporting as well as integration to virtually all healthcare
information systems, including nurse call, asset and bed management,
security, ADT and billing.
